Play is an impulse that comes from your body.
Play is a practice. it is something you do.
If you don't do it often, you might forget how it is done.
it might even stop being your nature.
That is a terrible thought.
I wish that play was prescribed by doctors.
Taught to teachers, enforced to parents.
Written and mentioned in all policies.
In truth play is there the whole time
we just like to play boring games
like waiting, stressing, worrying.
The game of doing things we don't like.
The game of feeling like an impostor.
Many of us are really good players of these games.
But let's go back to joyful play.
Play is an impulse that comes from your body.
Listen to your body. let it guide you,
let yourself be in a state of discovery.
Play is in the simplest of things.
it can be found in a forgotten object
that transforms into thousands of other things.
In the jazz of the gait of each person passing by.
In becoming every interesting object or movement you see.
Play is a practice. it is something you do.
You don't need much. You often just need to start.

"Clowning has helped me build my emotional resilience, get my wounded child out to play and exercise my trust muscle. I feel I can create much, much more with less and less." Linda Royles, actor and activist
