I'm a theatre maker, movement specialist practitioner and teacher.
Currently the Head of Movement at LAMDA, I have extensive experience in challenging actors in their physical storytelling and transformation for the stage and screen. As an artist, I'm a physically driven director, movement director and an associate of the International mask company Troupe Courage and The Freedom Theatre in Palestine.Until 2017, I was the director of The Freedom Theatre School that offered the first professional actor training in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Having trained as a classical actress with ACE in Portugal and at the École Jacques Lecoq and École Philippe Gaulier in Paris, my movement work is also influenced by my encounter with Steve Wangh and his Grotowsky based pedagogy. Since I moved to UK in 2017, I have been working under mentorship of Jane Gibson and exploring Pure Movement from Litz Pisk and Trish Arnolds work.

As a practitioner that has worked extensively internationally - Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Sweden, Netherlands, Palestine, Jordan, Pakistan, Kuwait, Dubai, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil and USA - I speak 6 languages, offer workshop and 1:1 work with professional actors as a movement coach. Using my technical skill in movement and my ability to hold a brave space my work pushes the limits of each actor's range of expression.
I direct plays that are inherently embodied, political and tell stories of human condition. My passion lies in supporting voices that are currently dehumanised and tell their stories with virtuosic skill to create impact. I truly believe in the power of theatre and film to make a change in the world wide subconscious and I use my technical and artistic skills to serve positive radical transformation of the world.

“Within a couple of weeks of working with Micaela, I went from being afraid to even try to loving every minute of it. I was so heady about my process and generally such an anxious performer, and I became someone who was excited to share my work and who loved performing again. I learnt so much about how to be open and how to listen with my whole body, how to commit fully to being in the moment and you showed me how to engage deeply with transformation. To this day I still use clowning as a bridge between myself and my characters. It’s a real game changer for me and I urge anyone who might be interested in Micaela’s clown workshop to absolutely go for it! You are in really safe hands❤️” Chloe Lemonius , actor
